Health tonic
Picture this: Your nose drips ever so slightly, your head feels like a small child is playing amateur bongo drums on it, and your throat may even feel like soggy sandpaper. Okay maybe thats not the funnest thing to picture but that might mean you are getting that seasonal cold! AAHHH!! Sometimes its hard for me to imagine a simple drink is gonna make my entire body feel better but earth is REALLY cool and it provides us with properties that makes us stronger and feel better! How cool is that? The earth is really looking out for us. Here is how I made my health tonic. You can make it into a small shot version, but I love sipping on this warm piece of heaven for quite some time.
WHY DID I PICK THESE INGREDIENTS FOR MY TONIC?
GINGER- Anti-inflammatory, helps with nausea, improves brain function, and the bioactive substance in it (gingerol) fights off infection.
OREGANO LEAF EXTRACT- Anti-Microbial, fights off infection, boosts immunity, detoxes body, and aids in digestion
LEMON- Aids digestion, neutralizes acidity in stomach, vitamin C.
APPLE CIDER VINEGAR- detoxes body through liver and lymphatic system, balances pH in body, supports metabolism, anti fungal.
WATER- is life.
MAPLE SYRUP- Yummm
Ingredients:
-1/2 peeled lemon (try getting the seeds out!)
-3 big ginger pieces
-16-32 oz of water (by preference)
-20-30 drops of oregano herbal extract (NOT OIL! You will get very sick if you use that much of oregano oil. I use Gaia herbs brand of the extract)
-1 tablespoon Apple cider vinegar
-maple syrup to taste (I use about 1 tablespoon or less)
Directions:
1. Use a blender, food processor, or magic bullet to blend up your lemon, ginger, maple syrup, ACV with about 4-8 oz of room temp water. Blend for about a minute.
2. Add the oregano herbal extract and add more room temp water to about half way the size you want. (I am sure you can add the oregano extract in the first step, I just don't haha).
3. Boil water and pour the other half (about 8 oz) into a glass. Its important not to make it scalding hot as it will denature the nutrients and properties. So it should be really nice and warm!
